Bridge of Birds, written by Barry Hughart and published in 1984, is one of my top ten favorite novels. I’ve read it aloud several times, as well as having read it several more times in the usual way. Here’s the cover of the paperback book:
I’ll post a chapter each day for the rest of September.
The novel takes place in “an ancient China that never was.”
Chapter 1 is titled “The Village of Ku-fu” wherein the narrator of the story, Number Ten Ox, describes his village.
Please give it a listen and follow me through this superb book. And leave a comment, if you would.
(length – 21:22)
Beautifully read…lyrically read…poetically read. The pacing is perfect, and the interpretation is faultless. This is wonderful.
You are too kind!
Wonderful delivery and alliteration! Have just enjoyed listening to chapter one. I normally don’t enjoy audio reading presentation, but this was a pleasure.
Looking forward to more!
Hello, Roberta!
Thank you very much. I, too, have trouble just sitting back and listening to someone read a chapter from a book. My aged mind wanders!
But this is so much fun to read, I hope you’re as happy with the rest of the 30 chapters to come!
